It will be an opportunity to build community and lasting relationships while engaging in an interesting conversation about the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of a local epidemiologist at the University of Washington. \nAbout the Speaker  \nJanet Baseman\, PhD\, MPH is a Professor of Epidemiology and the Associate Dean for the Public Health Practice at the University of Washington’s (UW) School of Public Health. Her research is in the areas of infectious disease surveillance\, public health informatics\, and emergency preparedness and response systems. She teaches Field Epidemiology to graduate students and directs UW’s student outbreak response team. Prior to joining the UW faculty\, she spent several years at a local public health agency doing boots on the ground public health work. \nAbout the Talk \nThe University of Washington – and our surrounding communities – were “ground zero” for the COVID-19 pandemic’s entrance into the United States.
