SUMMARY:Brownstone Austin Supper Club June 24\, 2026: Mary Parker & Cyndi Collen
DESCRIPTION:SHARE | PRINT | EMAILBrownstone Austin Supper Club \nJune 24\, 2026:  Mary Parker & Cyndi Collen \nWednesday June 24th @ 5:30pm – 9:00pm \nCasa Garcia’s\, 1901 W William Cannon\, Austin TX 78745 \n 5:30pm – 9:00pm\n Austin\, Texas\n $50 per person for appetizer\, dinner\, speaker \nYou’re invited to an eye-opening evening of honest conversation about what’s really happening in mental healthcare — how over-diagnosis has led to the over-medicalization of everyday emotional and behavioral struggles\, and how a holistic approach is changing lives in ways pharmaceuticals simply can’t. \nAbout Mary & Cyndi \nMary Parker\, LPC-S is a licensed counselor\, functional mental health practitioner\, and author of Wired for the Wild: How ADHD Is Your Biological Superpower. With years of clinical experience supporting children and families navigating ADHD\, Mary has developed a root-cause approach that integrates evolutionary biology\, nutrition\, nervous system science\, and genetic individuality.  She brings to every conversation the fire of a clinician who has fought for families\, the precision of a researcher who has read the data\, and the heart of a mother who has lived it.\n\n Cyndi Collen\, LCSW-S is a licensed clinical social worker\, certified integrative mental health professional\, and founder of Flourish Holistic Mental Wellness and the Mindful Wellness Center of Austin. A clinician and educator with hundreds of successful client outcomes\, Cyndi champions holistic\, somatic\, and integrative approaches to anxiety and depression — and trains fellow therapists on the critical gap between SSRI research findings and what patients and providers are actually told. \nAbout the Talk \nMary & Cyndi tackle one of modern medicine’s most pressing controversies — the over-medicalization of depression and ADHD. They dismantle the widely-promoted chemical imbalance theory\, expose the hidden risks of psychiatric medications that patients are never told about\, and make the case for holistic and functional approaches that deliver real\, lasting results — without the prescription pad. They’ll also break down emerging policy efforts aimed at reining in psychiatric overmedication. \nVenue\, Location & Parking\n Casa Garcia’s is at the intersection of W William Cannon and Menchaca.  There is a large parking lot.   We will be in the ‘Party Room’\, which is to the left of the reception / hostess area.   \nRegistration\n $50 per person.  Space is limited so be sure to secure your seat early.  For more information contact Cyndi at cyndi@flourishholisticwellness.com.   Please include “Austin Supper Club” in the subject line.

DESCRIPTION:SHARE | PRINT | EMAILTuesday\, July 7 @ 5:30 – 9:00pm \nRocco’s Restaurant and Bar\, 193 Main Street\, Wilmington\, MA \nTuesday\, July 7th | 5:30pm – 9:00pm \nWilmington\, MA \n$55 per person \nPlease join us for an evening of lively conversation\, intriguing speakers\, and fun! This month we are pleased to welcome Brownstone Institute Senior Scholar Gigi Foster\, now on sabbatical in the US. \nAbout Gigi Foster \nGigi Foster works in diverse fields including education\, social influence\, time use\, lab experiments\, behavioural economics\, and Australian policy. Named 2019 Young Economist of the Year by the Economic Society of Australia\, she publishes in both specialised and cross-disciplinary outlets\, and her innovative teaching was awarded a 2017 Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. She has filled numerous roles of service to the profession and engages heavily on economic matters with the Australian community\, as one of Australia’s leading economics communicators\, in the media and at live events. She co-founded the think tank Australians for Science and Freedom in 2023\, and is an author of dozens of academic articles and several books\, including The Great Covid Panic (2021) and Do Lockdowns and Border Closures Serve the “Greater Good”? (2022). \nAbout the Talk \nThe ethics\, politics and economics of Western renewalThe modern West is in decline\, as evidenced in our institutions\, our culture\, and the betrayal of our people by elites who disregard the needs ofa healthy society in favour of serving power. What to do? In thisBrownstone Supper Club talk\, I will describe my approach to this uber-problem as an economist trained in the broad social sciences\, from both a theoretical and a highly practical standpoint\, focussing on desirable and feasible options for institutional redesign. Amongst other things I will discuss the mission and activities of the free think tank I co-founded and co-direct\, Australians for Science and Freedom\, and the newest attempt at Western renewal in which I am involved: a serious proposal for the secession of Western Australia from that country’s Commonwealth government. I will also briefly discuss the origin of Brownstone Institute’s first published book\, The Great Covid Panic\, released in September 2021\, which I co-authored with Paul Frijters and Michael Baker. \nVenue\, Location & Parking \nRocco’s\, 193 Main Street\, Wilmington.
