SUMMARY:Brownstone Supper Club Philadelphia! Thursday\, May 1\, 2025 – Brad Kershner
DESCRIPTION:SHARE | PRINT | EMAILBrownstone Supper Club Philadelphia! Thursday\, May 1\, 2025 – Brad Kershner \nMay 1 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm  $50.00 \nJoin us at our next Philadelphia Supper Club on May 1\, 2025! We welcome Dr. Brad Kershner\, Head of School at Kimberton Waldorf School and an independent scholar. Brad is the co-founder of a meta-political think tank – The Reconstitution Project – and the author of two books. In addition to his work in education\, Brad collaborates with thought leaders and religious teachers from around the world in developing wisdom-based responses to planetary problems. You can follow his work at integratedemergence.substack.com.  \nBrad will be speaking to us about: “Live Free or AI: Coming to Terms with TechnoFeudalism.”   \nAmidst an abundance of hype and hysteria about AI\, it is challenging to determine what to be excited about\, what to be scared about\, and what to be skeptical about. This talk will explore some key ideas related to the evolution of technology\, with a focus on understanding what it means to be living in a world that is characterized by the totalizing ideology of TechnoFeudalism.   \nOur venue\, the festive Las Bugambilias in Philadelphia’s famous Old City district\, offers a buffet of all-you-can-consume Mexican food\, margaritas\, beer\, and wine — all included. Join us for a night of eating and drinking\, meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. Dress is whatever makes you happy — casual is great\, fancy is also wonderful. \nLOCATION & PARKING\nLas Bugambilias\, at 15 S. 3rd St. is near the corner of 3rd and Chestnut Sts\, right off the I-95 and 676 highways.\nOne outdoor parking lot is immediately adjacent to the restaurant ($20-25) and a large indoor lot is around the corner on 4th and Chestnut Sts. ($20-30)\nStreet parking is usually easy to find in the evenings as well (pay at kiosks or through the MeterUp parking app). \nWHERE TO STAY\nIn the 3-block radius around the restaurant you’ll find several 3- and 4-star hotels\, with nightly rates starting as low as $89.\nApple Hostels offers affordable rooms at a location near the venue (33 Bank St). One of our guests stayed at the hostel and highly recommends it. \nQUESTIONS/ADDITIONAL INFO\nPlease contact Debbie Lerman or Logan Chipkin with any questions or to request more information.\ndebbielerman@yahoo.com\nchipkin.logan@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Brownstone Supper Club\, May 21\, 2025: David Zweig
DESCRIPTION:SHARE | PRINT | EMAILThe famed supper club at a fabulous venue (the real Chinese stuff) with friends of the Brownstone Institute\, featuring reporter and famed author David Zweig\, whose bestselling book is An Abundance of Caution\, on school closures but also the hellscape of the whole Covid period.\n.\nCome early for cocktails and meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Casual and fun\, even if some people come in fancier clothing. \nThis month we are deeply honored to host David Zweig\, a curious and scrupulous journalist whose book is an amazing documentary history of our times. Sweeping and precise\, the author is one of the few brave journalists in the country actually to attend the Great Barrington Declaration event…in person! \nHe has worked on this book for five years\, interviewing countless scientists\, writers\, anonymous bureaucrats\, and publishers\, all with the driving purpose of trying to figure out what the heck happened to cause this disaster. All the while\, he maintained an emotional distance that only a spirit of incredulity grants. The result is spectacular\, a page turner that deals with a deeply painful topic but somehow ends up providing an emotional release. \nThe early reviews have been over the top\, almost as if the country had been waiting for such a book. We are thrilled to hear from him and hear his story of the research and writing\, and have him engage with our wonderful community on the meaning of it all.
