This month we are pleased to welcome Selena Fitanides. \nAbout Selena Fitanides\nSelena is a Massachusetts-based\, constitutional rights attorney focused on free speech\, religious freedom\, and due process rights.  She has represented vaccine mandate protestors who faced criminal charges for exercising their free speech rights. Earlier in her career\, she worked at the ACLU\, at large law firms\, and was a lecturer at BU Law School. In 2024\, Selena served as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Kennedy campaign in Massachusetts. \nAbout the Talk:\nUnconstitutional Information Control during the COVID Operation.  Selena will put into historical context her clients’ experiences battling censorship and propaganda during the COVID Operation\, and will open up a discussion about what the government hoped to gain by its unconstitutional efforts to suppress and shape political speech. \nVenue\nTremezzo is a friendly\, relaxed Italian eatery. We’ll enjoy appetizers\, salad\, all you can eat Neapolitan brick oven pizza (considered a healthier pizza!)\, including vegetarian\, vegan\, and gluten-free (cauliflower crust) options\, and wine. \nLocation & Parking\n2 Lowell St\, Wilmington\, MA 01887. Parking is free in the lot outside the restaurant. Free overflow parking is available across the street\, at Colonial Park Plaza\, which is next to the gas station. \nRegistration\n$50 per person. DESCRIPTION:SHARE | PRINT | EMAILWe’re thrilled to feature Indiana State Treasurer Daniel Elliot at our July 14 Midwest Supper Club! \nJuly 14 @ 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm \nTreasurer Elliott will discuss his responsibilities in the role of State Treasurer. He will touch upon topics such as what is being done to prohibit Central Bank Digital Currency in our state\, to ensure that Hoosiers’ personal data remains private\, and to fight against banks that de-bank individuals based on their political actions and speech. Mr. Elliott will also discuss his work to protect Hoosier pensions from potentially risky ESG commitments. \nAbout Treasurer Elliot: \nDaniel Elliott was elected as the 56th Indiana State Treasurer on November 8th\, 2022. In this role\, Treasurer Elliott serves as the Chair of the Indiana Bond Bank\, the Statewide E-911 Board\, the Indiana Education Savings Authority\, the ABLE Authority\, and the Sole Trustee of the State Police Pension Trust\, among several other positions. As the state’s chief investment officer\, he oversees the management of over $13 billion on a daily basis. \nDaniel Elliott brings 25 years of information technology experience as a software engineer\, architect\, and cybersecurity consultant to the State Treasurer’s office. He previously served on the Morgan County Council and as President of the Morgan County Redevelopment Commission\, giving him firsthand knowledge of local government challenges. \nA Nebraska native who now lives on a small farm in Morgan County with his wife Laura and four children\, Elliott is a school-choice advocate and proponent of traditional Hoosier values. He graduated from Utah Valley University and is Indiana’s first elected Latter-Day Saint statewide officeholder. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Casual and fun\, even if some people come in fancier clothing. \nThis month we are deeply honored to host Bret Weinstein\, a curious and scrupulous scientist and Brownstone Fellow. His famous Dark Horse podcast has been a crucial driver of the public narrative surrounding the Covid period and beyond. His incisive commentary adheres closely to scientific concerns\, backed by logic and careful thinking. \nBret will share with us insights on what it is like to be in his position as a voice of clarity with independent media\, and what he has learned over the last several years in his role. We are thrilled to hear from him and hear his story of his experiences and what it has taught him about this highly contentious moment in public life.
