SUMMARY:Brownstone Supper Club\, West Hartford\, February 18: Ann Bauer
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, February 18\, 2025\, the beloved West Hartford Supper Club – the first in the nation – is pleased to welcome Ann Bauer\, bestselling author\, world-famous essayist\, once a beloved writer for the New York Times (forgive her please)\, and now one of the most compelling thinkers and critics of our time. \nAnn will not likely go down in history as the source who broke the Minnesota welfare fraud case but she probably should. Her deep knowledge of the state informed most of the reporting on that topic. She will likely share facts and analysis of the culture of the state never heard before\, along with some detail that has yet to make the news. \nButterfly is the venue (the real Chinese stuff) with friends of the Brownstone Institute. Come early for cocktails and meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Casual and fun\, even if some people come in fancier clothing. \nAnn Bauer’s fame stems from her fierce independence of mind and stylistic elegance. Once a chronicler of New York City cuisine – the subject of her bestseller – she entered the class of dissidents in the Covid era\, drawing attention to the ways in which the population was being trolled by a class of scientists she knew all too well. This position alienated her from her social set but opened new opportunities. \nThe Supper Club is thrilled to have her! \nSee you soon!

DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, January 21\, 2025\, the beloved West Hartford Supper Club is pleased to welcome Renaud Beauchard\, a French journalist with Tocsin\, one of the largest independent media in France. He will discuss the parallels of what is happening in France and Europe more generally and trends in the US. \nBeauchard has been highly active with the Make America/Europe Great Again movement\, particularly the way in which attempts to control the microbial kingdom have so heavily attacked human liberty. SUMMARY:Brownstone Supper Club\, West Hartford\, December 17\, 2025: L. Todd Wood\, Connecticut Centinal
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, December 17\, 2025\, the beloved West Hartford Supper Club is pleased to welcome L. Todd Wood\, the CEO\, Publisher\, and Editor-in-Chief of CDM Media\, publisher of the Connecticut Centinal. Founded in 1806\, it is the state’s premier investigative newspaper. \nButterfly is the venue (the real Chinese stuff) with friends of Brownstone Institute. Come early for cocktails and meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Casual and fun\, even if some people come in fancier clothing. \nTodd Wood has been through heck and back over five years of running an alternative media venue…and survived. The paper has been censored\, demonetized\, attacked\, banned\, and otherwise targeted at all levels. He will describe his travails through it all\, and how legacy media had become so absurdly one-sided and uncurious about everything that matters. \nHis media company today is competing with and often beating the well-funded competition\, and hence having a huge impact on the public mind – despite every attempt to crush it. \nSee you soon! \nNo Media

Since then\, she has devoted herself to educating parents—especially women—on the importance of grassroots activism\, community engagement\, and prioritizing our children as the future of America. \nShe co-founded New Canaan Unplugged\, a parent-led initiative helping families cultivate a more mindful relationship with technology. Alex also serves as the Connecticut Chapter Lead of the Independent Women’s Network (IWN)\, which operates in Fairfield County as a hub for like-minded individuals pushing back against divisive ideologies in schools and local communities. He is a member of the Operations Management Group at MIT Sloan and affiliated with the MIT Operations Research Center. Levi also serves as the faculty leader for Food Chain Supply Analytics. Before coming to MIT\, he spent a year in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center as the holder of the Goldstine Postdoctoral Fellowship. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Tel-Aviv University in 2001\, and a PhD in Operations Research from Cornell University in 2005. \nHe is a member of ACIP\, the committee that provides advice and guidance to leaders of the CDC and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This CIP appointment is for four years. \nRetsef will share with us insights on the matter of AI systems. Are they as robust as advertised or are we merely creating single points of failure. Not nearly enough attention has been paid to this concern. Another matter: when AI systems break down\, can anyone fix them? Other issues will come up in Q&A. \nWe are thrilled to hear from him and hear his story of his experiences and what it has taught him about this highly contentious moment in public life. This event will certainly sell out\, so be sure to get your tickets early.

SUMMARY:Brownstone Supper Club\, May 21\, 2025: David Zweig
DESCRIPTION:The famed supper club at a fabulous venue (the real Chinese stuff) with friends of the Brownstone Institute\, featuring reporter and famed author David Zweig\, whose bestselling book is An Abundance of Caution\, on school closures but also the hellscape of the whole Covid period.\n.\nCome early for cocktails and meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Casual and fun\, even if some people come in fancier clothing. \nThis month we are deeply honored to host David Zweig\, a curious and scrupulous journalist whose book is an amazing documentary history of our times. Sweeping and precise\, the author is one of the few brave journalists in the country actually to attend the Great Barrington Declaration event…in person! \nHe has worked on this book for five years\, interviewing countless scientists\, writers\, anonymous bureaucrats\, and publishers\, all with the driving purpose of trying to figure out what the heck happened to cause this disaster. All the while\, he maintained an emotional distance that only a spirit of incredulity grants. The result is spectacular\, a page turner that deals with a deeply painful topic but somehow ends up providing an emotional release. \nThe early reviews have been over the top\, almost as if the country had been waiting for such a book. We are thrilled to hear from him and hear his story of the research and writing\, and have him engage with our wonderful community on the meaning of it all.

SUMMARY:Brownstone Supper Club\, April 23\, 2025: Laura Delano
DESCRIPTION:The famed supper club at a fabulous venue (the real Chinese stuff) with friends of the Brownstone Institute\, featuring Laura Delano\, whose bestselling book is Unshrunk: A Story of Psychiatric Treatment Resistance. \nCome early for cocktails and meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Casual and fun\, even if some people come in fancier clothing. \nThis month we are excited to host Laura\, whose books and many media appearances have fired up a much-needed debate about psychiatric drugs and the claims surrounding them. Her intensely biographical story is a real-life example of what research is showing: these drugs themselves can become worse than the problem they are supposed to solve. \nHer book has been reviewed sometimes favorably and sometimes savagely. Regardless\, it is suddenly at the center of an issue that afflicts one in four adults and many teens.

SUMMARY:Brownstone Supper Club\, July 24\, 2024: Jeffrey Tucker
DESCRIPTION:The famed dinner club at a fabulous venue (the real Chinese stuff) with friends of the Brownstone Institute. \n“Can we ever just have a social hour instead of always having a big speaker?” \nSure\, and summer time is the perfect time for that! Supper club people love just to visit. \nJust in case\, however\, our president Jeffrey Tucker is going to speak about his discoveries concerning the economic data of our times. It seems that it is not all on the up and up. Inflation is far higher and growth far lower. We might have been in recession/depression since March 2020\, based on reasonable revisions. He will explain all this. And you will feel better: it’s not just you\, everyone is suffering financially. \nCome early for cocktails and meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Casual and fun\, even if some people come in fancier clothing. \nThis should be a wonderful event. And it’s a chance to learn about economic stuff without being bored!

SUMMARY:Brownstone Supper Club\, June 26\, 2024: Leslie Manookian (Health Freedom Defense Fund)
DESCRIPTION:The famed dinner club at a fabulous venue (the real Chinese stuff) with friends of the Brownstone Institute\, featuring Leslie Manookian\, the founder and president of Health Freedom Defense Fund. \nCome early for cocktails and meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Casual and fun\, even if some people come in fancier clothing. \nOur special guest this month is Leslie Manookian\, the founder and president of Health Freedom Defense Fund. Her organization is fresh from an epic victory in a Los Angeles appeals court: the vaccine mandate for school employees was rejected. The grounds are hugely significant: the court said the Covid vaccine mandate did not meet the standards of Jacobson (1905). This is the first major court case in 120 years to curb this power. \nYou must come to hear a first-hand account of the case\, the arguments\, and implications of this huge victory. Keep in mind that Leslie was also behind the court case that struck down the transportation mask mandate. That was a massive victory  And now we have another one. \nWe are so honored to welcome her. You will NOT want to miss this!

DESCRIPTION:The famed dinner club at a fabulous venue (the real Chinese stuff) with friends of the Brownstone Institute\, featuring Tiffany Justice. \nCome early for cocktails and meet Brownstone Institute friends\, scholars\, writers\, and benefactors\, and celebrate victories and discuss challenges ahead. The food is wonderful and the discussion brilliant. Tiffany is a wife and mom of four school-aged children. In 2016 she stepped up to serve for 4 years on the School District of Indian River County\, FL School Board. We are so honored to welcome her.
