Please join us for an evening of warm community, lively conversation and great food & drink. This month we are pleased to welcome Dave Rollo, Bloomington City Council Member. He’ll give a talk titled “A Civic Response to the Existential Threat of AI”.

About the Talk

Dave believes civil society must play a central role in urging elected representatives to safeguard humanity. Concerned about the risks posed by AI, he introduced a City Council resolution calling for a moratorium on artificial general intelligence. He will discuss the status of that resolution and why he believes citizens and local governments must act on the potential threats of AI now.

About Dave Rollo 

Dave Rollo has served over two decades on the Bloomington City Council, and has served on numerous city boards and commissions. His background is in biology, and he has held research positions in molecular and microbiology. He is currently a policy advisor for a Washington, DC non-profit working for sustainable economics.

Location & Parking

Lennie’s is located at 514 E. Kirkwood Ave in the heart of downtown Bloomington, Indiana. Free parking is available after 5PM in the Indiana University Von Lee Parking Lot at the corner of Sixth and Dunn, and in the Indiana University Parking Lot #402 at 4th and Dunn. There is also metered parking (metered until 9PM) available on streets surrounding Kirkwood Avenue. Several parking garages are within walking distance.
