Pittsburgh Brownstone Supper Club is excited to welcome back Brownstone author, Father John Naugle, as he presents “Which way Mankind? Transhumanism or Human Dignity?”.
In his new encyclical, Pope Leo XIV warns us in the opening paragraph: “Each generation inherits the task of shaping its own era, of guiding history to become a place where the dignity of every person is safeguarded, justice is promoted and fraternity is made possible. Yet every era also runs the risk of creating an inhumane and more unjust world.”
Doesn’t 2020 stand out to us as a remarkable decision to create the latter rather than the former? We violated human dignity, violated justice, and forbade fraternity in a futile attempt to escape our own mortality.
Our fight is not over, however. As so many at Brownstone have written about, the threats of transhumanism and posthumanism continue to threaten similar projects in the future, as their faith in technology has supplanted any faith in human nature.
Join us as Father Naugle reflects on the threats to human dignity of our own era, and how the disorientation of “new things” like artificial intelligence is used in every era by malign forces to profit off of the destruction of human dignity.
