How to Repair Our Post-Repentance Culture

Maybe I’m blind to their existence, but outside the largely narcissistic and comfortably non-personal woke rituals of remorse, I see few institutional pressures in our culture for young people, or anyone for that matter, to undertake the serious and always consequential act of examining their behaviors in the light of moral principles. Just the opposite, in fact.

Science-Totalitarianism Now Threatens Liberalism

Faced with the techno-scientification of everything, those of us wedded to the ideals of liberalism urgently need to recognise this threat. We need to recognise that though it is often useful, science cannot transcend the human condition. However much opportunity it brings, it cannot save us from being the limited, complex creatures that we are.

Did Liberalism Fail the Test of Covid?

SHARE | PRINT | EMAIL

I am completely obsessed with the question of whether liberalism failed in response to Covid. As I’ve written before, I think it is perhaps the most important question in the world right now. If liberalism failed then we are now seeking an alternative to liberalism. If liberalism did not fail (or was lynched) then perhaps we are seeking a return to liberalism (or the introduction of “true” liberalism for the first time). I believe that figuring out this question will provide a map to guide us out of the valley of death that we are currently in.

Exiles in Our Own Land

Authoritarians like our current crop have an Achilles’ heel to which they are almost invariably blind. They assume that everyone else views the world as hierarchically as they do; that is, as a place where dignity matters little and where the wisest course is always the supposedly practical one of “kissing up and kicking down.”

On Wokism and Broken Homes

Apparently, the influence of (far left) woke ideology on people’s perceptions and social relations generally cannot be underestimated. When individuals are willing to quit their jobs, and when, at the other end of the political spectrum, woke is approached through the discourse of bellicosity, it is not far-fetched to assume that it is bound to have a negative impact, at least in some cases, on the relationships between parents and their adult children.

The Moral Obligation of Civil Disobedience

The Moral Obligation of Civil Disobedience

SHARE | PRINT | EMAIL

We live in turbulent times, and the power of civil disobedience has already been demonstrated by truckers in Canada and farmers in Germany. History is replete with examples of determined minorities who break the power of the elites while ignoring the objection of the moderates who love order over justice.

We must have faculty members who first re-embrace their traditional role as seekers and disseminators of truth, instead of pushing politicized, anti-Enlightenment rubbish like critical race theory and “transgenderism;” and who then wrest back the levers of power from the toxic Claudine Gay clones by demanding and participating in meaningful shared governance.

Would You Have Resisted the Imposition of Time Zones?

Every trend can be taken too far, but perhaps we should become more aware of how all this detachment from the world around us begins and be more skeptical. For my part, I would be happy knowing and following the actual local time again. Maybe we need sundials again. Our times are so rough, brutalized by a techno-fascist junta that forever wants to jab us and force us all into the metaverse, I’m finding the idea just a bit tempting.

The Great Taking Exposes the Financial End Game

The Great Taking Exposes the Financial End Game

One of the very best exposés of the covert, very well-hidden, bellicose attempts to rob all of humanity – barring the miniscule number of psychotic individuals comprising the inimical opposition – of their material possessions and their ‘immaterial’ freedom, was published fairly recently. It is accurately titled The Great Taking (2023), and was written by David Webb, one of the most courageous and finance-savvy authors I have ever come across.
