This war on dissent is not only a scandal of our times. The lockdowns and now the mandates have fundamentally transformed society and its relationship to government, technology, media, and much more. The emergency continues.
Approving a vaccination scheme that turns out to, on average, harm boys or men of a certain age would be a catastrophic blunder. Confidence in vaccination will reach new lows, and vaccines as a culture war issue will intensify. America may not survive it. The two officials were right to resign. I would not want this on my watch.
This really is stacking up to be a battle between the new and old normal, which is to say the expectation of normal freedoms vs. rule by a bio-security state. The results will fundamentally affect the relationship between business and government and workers and employers. If the majority gets its way here, it’s hard to see how traditional Constitutional restraints on states at any level can be maintained in the face of bureaucratic diktat as ordered by an executive.
Liberty and justice for all! It’s a good idea. New York City should try it. Maybe it too would experience a Florida-like boom in business and immigration instead of recession and exodus. If this keeps up, the only moving thing in the city will be the newest variant.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that living in the modern world has left most people, including journalists, politicians, physicians, and even many scientists, with little or no appreciation of how important their relationship with microbes is to their overall health. Not just bacteria and fungi, but also viruses, too.
Rather than forcing the vaccine on the young or those with natural immunity, we should focus on vaccinating more older Americans, as well as older people in other countries. That is what will keep the mortality numbers down. That is what will keep our country together. It may even help keep the world together.
In India, it is even more absurd that almost everything is normal for adults: restaurants, malls, movie theatres, crowded events, crowded buses and trains and flights, etc.; while at the same time schools are not open, and even where open, normal activities are not permitted for kids!
